SINGLE MIC SESSIONS (SMS)

KMAM Single Mic Sessions (SMS) is a regular intimate acoustic music event in Fremantle. 

SMS events share short set performances by community, early career and experienced players, plus special guest artists. The sessions are structured to include a range of genre styles, artist levels, and ‘walk-up’ set spaces.

The music content focuses mainly on folk, world and roots genres, incorporating contemporary, trad, fusion, and original compositions, using a retro-style single-microphone production set-up, ideal for simple acoustic instrumentation.

The artist line-up for our second session on Wednesday 13 September will be Ashlea Reale and NY Slim, Sofia Hourani, Steve, Ros and Kieran Barnes, the Foggy Memory Boys duo, and special guest multi-instrumentalist, Dave Clarke.

The ethos of the SMS project aligns with the folk tradition of intergenerational collaboration and passing on skills, knowledge and expertise to younger players in a respectful supportive environment.
